Does Race Matter?

Yes and No.

Yes, in the sense that it is important to understand that we are all not the same. We are not born with same features. We do not look the same.

No, in the sense that even though we are aware of the differences we should simply not care. What I mean by this, is that we should know that race is irrelevant.

Interestingly, there are two ways in which people make race matter. First, the ones who classify it as an important thing of struggle, and survival. Usually the racist individuals who discriminate.

The second group of people are the ones who make such a great effort at not discriminating people that they end up making race matter just as much. You know what I mean.

That one guy who is attentive to all the ethnicity and races that it becomes uncomfortable and far too shallow. He might seem like a new-age person, yet people can see right through that.

So what is a good moderate balance? How about going about with your day not caring who is black and who is Asian, because it is irrelevant. In fact, there is no such thing as race.

So basically if someone is an asshole or does something that annoys you, try to understand that it is him/her as an individual that is like that. Do not blame everyone in their ethnicity. That is wrong.

I mean there are jerks in all the races in the world. The fact that Bill the Asian guy cut in line when you were getting a coffee, doesn’t mean all Asians are like that. Right?

The point is that humans are usually assholes and jerks regardless of race and gender. Interestingly  they are also nice and caring, again regardless of race and gender. Humans are very diverse.

Morgan Freeman says that the best way to end racism is to stop caring about race. The moment humanity goes beyond these meaningless things, we can advanced into a new age.

How are we going to get rid of racism? Stop talking about it.
